Why Use Multi-Track Audio?
When editing podcasts or interviews in DaVinci Resolve, having each speaker on a separate track gives you:
- - Individual volume control per speaker
- - Separate EQ and noise reduction settings
- - Easy removal of specific speaker segments
- - Different audio effects per speaker
- - Clean cuts without affecting other speakers

Create a New Project in Resolve
Open DaVinci Resolve and create a new project. Set your timeline resolution and frame rate to match your video footage.
Import All Media
In the Media Pool, import your video file and all separated audio tracks. Use File → Import Media or drag and drop.
Create Timeline with Video
Drag your video to the timeline. Right-click the video clip and select Link Clips → Unlink to separate the original audio from video.
Add Separated Audio Tracks
Drag each speaker's audio file to separate audio tracks below the video. Align them to start at the same point (usually 00:00:00:00).
V1: Video
A1: Original Audio (mute or delete)
A2: Host Audio
A3: Guest 1 Audio
A4: Guest 2 Audio
Mute or Delete Original Audio
Select the original audio track (A1) and either mute it (click the M button) or delete it. You'll now use only the separated tracks.

Troubleshooting
Audio out of sync?
Make sure all tracks start at the same timecode. Select all audio clips and use Timeline → Reset Timecode if needed. The separated tracks should be the same length as your original.
Sample rate mismatch?
If you get a sample rate warning, go to Project Settings → Master Settings and set the audio sample rate to match your files (usually 44.1kHz or 48kHz).
Want stereo tracks?
SplitBySpeakers outputs mono files by default. In Fairlight, you can pan each speaker slightly left or right to create a stereo field, or use the channel mapper.
Recommended Export Settings
When exporting your final video:
Format: QuickTime or MP4
Codec: H.264 or H.265
Audio Codec: AAC
Audio Bitrate: 320 kbps
Sample Rate: 48 kHz
Channels: Stereo
For podcasts where you only need audio, use the Deliver page and select Audio Only with MP3 or WAV format.
